Kyle calls himself an ‘Adventurer’, which involves a combination of various endurance sports (running, hiking, climbing) usually for very long distances up mountains and in rugged environments! But it isn’t for the faint hearted! Kyle has broken a world-record, set world-first and fastest time records, and even outran a Jeep Wrangler!
In its simplest form, he says if you maintain the below you should be ready to conquer the course.
Diet
Now’s not the time to experiment with a new diet as your body may freak out, however, it is time to start carb loading. 48 hours out, try adding an extra 100g carbs as well as on the day for fuel. Get protein and carbs in during and after the event for recovery.
Hydration
Muscles don’t function without adequate water and electrolytes. Ensure to go into the event hydrated and stay hydrated!
Sleep
Make a good effort to have the two nights prior to the event a really good night of sleep. Some research has shown it’s not the night immediately before the event that matters but the night before that!!
Supplements
You have both an endurance and strength element involved. I use lactic acid buffers such as Cittruline Malate and Beta Alanine for endurance and Glutamine for muscle restoration. You may need to supplement with electrolyte formula depending on how much you personally swear. Acetyl Carnitine could also help brain function and recovery.
